What exactly do homophobes think gay people DO?

I recently saw this documentary where a really conservative guy said there were two Americas - gays and working people. I'm guessing he's lumping liberals, artists, and maybe even white collar workers in with ';gays.'; But a few months back, I read this thing about a homophobic guy who went to live with a gay guy in San Francisco for a month for this TV show. When he got back home, his dad asked, ';What do they do for money?'; and was genuinely surprised to hear that - yes - gay people have JOBS!

This surprises me, since I always thought that careers like interior design, fashion design, work in theatre and the arts, and so on, were stereotyped as gay careers. I figured everybody knew of the stereotype, and that homophobes in particular believed it. But now I'm not so sure. I live inside a gay-friendly liberal bubble, so I have to ask: do homophobes think gay people don't work? And so expand on that, how do they think gay people live in general? I mean, I've heard the stereotypes about partying every night, having sex with lots of different people, doing drugs, what have you, but is there more to it?What exactly do homophobes think gay people DO?
Lol! You mean we don't all live off the state or a sugar mama or dad! Darn, I thought I was getting a free ride here! J/K

Hard working bisexual lab rat!What exactly do homophobes think gay people DO?
Actually, I think the problem is they haven't really thought about it, they just criticize. Somewhat like those who think that all Atheists are evil satan worshiping scum. Thy really don't know what they are on about, they have their heads so far up their backsides they can't actually see what they are complaining about.
why do you all worry so much about the opinions of the ignorant.
I agree w/ PDeavans 'cause there is really no reason to worry about what people who have there noses buried in a bible think about us 'cause we can't change there minds for them all that we can do is help them turn the pages.
The gays work most definitely and some are very successful in corporate America as well as fashion, the arts (ie. theatre) and that sort of thing. I dont think homophobic people assume gays dont work many of them have very lavish lifestyles actually and make good money on average I have read somewhere.
People are ignorant and they don't understand about other people who live different lives than them and so they judge them for not living the way they want them to but screw that ';i'm gay'; and i will live the way i want.
I am gay and I grew up in a very conservative area of the country - let's just call it the Southeast United States lol - and I can certainly understand these sentiments; but frankly I abhor hate - whether its from the religious homophobes on the right or the liberal gay activists on the left.

You can't denounce hatred and participate in it at the same time - like Sean Penn did in his acceptance speech for ';Milk'; last night.
I think a lot of homophobes are not able to seriously sit down and rationalize their hatred toward homosexuals. Like with a lot of ';straight'; guys, they always just say things like they think its gross or not natural or whatever. Okay thats fine, but thats a personal opinion. Like I dont want to watch extremely obese people having sex so you know what? I dont. Nor do I think about it or imagine every time I meet someone who is obese.

And thats the other thing. Its not all about the sex yet thats what they seem to concentrate on so much. Like these body parts dont fit with those. You have got to be kidding me. There are so many exceptions to that rule in the hetero world. Just face facts, some people simply like to try to suppress others cause it makes them feel more powerful, superior, ';normal';.
i know it might sound weird but i'll say it anyways. homophobes say gay people is wrong because the bible said so. christians (weird people) they also said boy sex with boy, they can't take a dump and die. that makes me mad but they can't judge us by the way we are. we don't hold in dump and die. they just say things so they're right and we're wrong.
I wonder at the ignorance of people, and you have just illustrated a new low for me.

As a gay man, I worked hard all my life, and although now semi-retired, I still work up to 17 hours a day.
';What exactly do homophobes think gay people DO?';

All the sordid things THEY would do if they could just get over the guilt...
