I want to work with people with Psychosis, what job would that be?

Like if it's a Psychiatrist, is it a certain field I'd have to be in?

And how much school?I want to work with people with Psychosis, what job would that be?
You can work with people with psychosis as a psychiatrist, a psychologist or a social worker.

Psychiatrists focus more on prescribing medicines, though they can also do psychotherapy. For psychiatry, you'll need to go to medical school.

You can get a bachelor's degree in anything for med school, but you'll need to take 1 year biology, 1 year inorganic chemistry, 1 year organice chemistry, and 1 year physics. A psychology major would be good preparation.

After 3 years of med school, you do 1 year internship, 1 - 2 years residency, and then you do a residency in psychiatry.

Psychologists do assessments, counseling and psychotherapy but cannot prescribe medicine. You ought to have a PhD in psychology (2 years of grad school after college), though you can sometimes get licensed with just a master's (also 2 years after college). You don't need a master's in order to get the PhD.

Social workers generally need an MSW to do counseling, though there is a BSW degree as well.I want to work with people with Psychosis, what job would that be?
to be a psychiatrist you need 4 years of college (pre-med, biology, chemistry, etc...) then you need to go to Medical school for 4 years

that's it!
You can work with psychotics in a mental hospital even as a student nurse - it's a great place to get training in this very interesting field. Your business would largely be watching over medications - probably.

To be a psychiatrist is a long haul - they get an MD first, and then more school after that as they specialize in psychiatry. You could probably spend more time actually helping people as a nurse.

As a psychiatric nurse you could even set up your own practice outside of mental hospitals and be of help to these people.

Much to learn about that field though.
