How do you feel about bums who keep getting free welfare checks from the taxes of hard working people?

Thats what the democrats want. Why do the Democrats want to tax hard working people to death and continue to give away free money as welfare checks to bums and unemployed people and not trying hard enough to get these people jobs so they could at least contribute to society in any way? I have a cousin who is 26, he has no job, he is schizophrenic, all he does is spend every penny he gets from the government that decent hard working people have to pay as extra taxes and all he does is buy more and more cigarettes to continue his addiction thats killing him. Republicans would make them get a job, or your on your own. Thats how it should be. There are a lot of people that dont want to have to work to make money, so they vote for a Democrat to get free welfare checks and keep everyone else from moving up where they belong and not stuck in the same place. The Democrats are like give em another chance and another chance and another and another and another, and if you still dont get it, I'll be nice and give you free welfare money and make your life happier and make it a better place for gangs and criminals to keep the benefits while the upper class is stuck from moving up any more. The Republicans are like this is what you deserve and deal with it! I wont give you any more chances! Your on your own!

I agree completely. I know some people are simply incapable of caring for themselves...and they should be helped. However there is too much abuse of the system. I know 2 single moms who keep having kids on purpose to make their aid checks bigger. That's really ridiculous. One has 3 kids from 3 different guys and the 4th on the way. She bartends and lives in subsidized housing. That's abusive.



Same thing goes for healthcare. My Dad worked for 30 years for Chicago Public Schools...had good insurance (Blue Cross PPO)...and when he was hospitalized due to stomach cancer, the hospital wanted to kick him out to a nursing home after FOUR DAYS (when he was already in the dying process). One of the nurses told us that the bum next to him could stay in the hospital indefinitely as he was on aid. Insurance company case workers with NO MEDICAL TRAINING review reports and arbitrarily decide who gets to stay and who has to go. So what's the moral of the story? Go to work, pay your taxes...and be put out in the cold when you actually need help....or sit on your *** and wait for your check paid for by all the rest of us....and receive better care when you need it. A mental illness like Schizophrenia is nothing to sneeze at. My brother has it, and he could never work without being dangerous to everyone around him. If the system didn't help him, he'd be on the streets talking to himself and setting places on fire. The minimal amount he gets to live means he's not exactly living it up either. He gets around $500 a month, $200 of which goes to his medicine to make him even functional.



Some people abuse the system, but not all. Don't be so fast to generalize.
This government is always going to have people collecting welfare checks no matter which party is in office. Many are not abusing the system and DO need help.



Right about now, I'm more concerned with the deregulation of the firewall between banks and investment firms which has led to the meltdown of huge corporations (Enron who??) who benefit the few elite who have made mega bucks at our expense, and we now have to bail them out with OUR money on top of that....once again.
I agree completely. It make me very angry. There should be a cap on welfare benefits--a reasonable one, say 3 years. That is MORE than enough time to get your s**t together. Enough with the sponging. Where I live there are families that have relied on welfare for generations. What a legacy....it is absolutely disgusting. PLEASE people, I beg of you...vote for McCain/Palin. It is our only choice.
Aaaww. How very Christian of them, the party that's supposed to represent the evangelicals in this country. I guess they're all ';do-it-yourself'; Protestants instead of ';charity-and-social-justice'; Catholics.
First, I want to say there should be a time limit on anybody that is on welfare and is able to work. Bill Clinton said he was going to change the face of welfare when he was president. He did nothing to change it. So, I'm certainly for dropping welfare on people that can work, but are too lazy. With that said, I just want to say something about schizophrenia. Most people with schizophrenia are truly unable to work, even if they stay on medication. I know this because my husband is one of those types. He is stable, stays on medication, but just can't hold a job any longer. He worked before his mental illness for 20 years. So, please, give your cousin a break. You have no idea how awful this disease really is and would never wish it on anybody.

I think it's a very silly question in light of the fact that we, the tax payers just found out that will have to bail out another multi billion dollar corporation.

as you state in your example that Person actually suffers from a mental illness...so do you think given the choice he would like to be schizophrenic? And please if your going to start assigning roles to the political party's be informed...EVERY welfare dept has work and labor programs, recipients are Required to participate in them to even get assistance the exception being if you are also DISABLED, seems to me if the Person you refer to suffers from the mental disorder you claim it is likely he is unemployable...you strike me as the same type who also complain that it's unfair disabled get placed in jobs and you have to interview for them. and not for nothing given the choice would You bring him to work with you and give him a job???...I personally do not want someone who is unstable working in industries where he may be a harm to himself or other employees??? I suggest you try practicing a little more compassion and less hostility for your fellow man....Kharma works in mysterious ways and you never know what blows life may deal you or your family members (not for nothing are you paying attention to the current state of our economy which coincidentally is manged by these great ';take care of yourself'; Repubs you speak of? Keeping the Upper Class stuck? hmmm seems to me the $$$ you claim upper class pays ';IN'; to take care of these people is collected from their taxes and there are currently upper level salary caps that protect the majority of their income from even being subject to Paying In....so correction - I believe it is the Middle Class that shoulders the burden - you say people don't want to work to make money I say there are just as many greedy individuals who make it hand over fist and take advantage of the current tax laws by sheltering and hiding their true incomes while the majority of the Middle Class pay out the nose, I can't wait for the tax laws to be re-written to impose progressive income tax rates on your TRUE INCOME - there is nothing Wrong with a country taking care of it's citizens strong or weak, it's not our jobs to judge people it's our job to just exist. Relax, be thankful you aren't afflicted with mental strife, enjoy life...it's far too short to spend it being so angry at people you claim to dislike anyway.
