Do people work crappy jobs because they have no choice or because they are fine with it?

First of all I've been recently thinking about the following: do all (or most) people achieve in life to some degree what they've always wanted? For example if someone REALLY always wanted to work as a truck driver or maybe a police officer, would they most of the time achieve what they wanted? Or are most people stuck doing something they don't really like, just because they have no choice? I am just trying to understand how can people work so many crappy or boring jobs out there, is it because they are fine with it? Or is it just a temp job for them till they find a career they are striving to get into? Or is it because they have no other choice?Do people work crappy jobs because they have no choice or because they are fine with it?
They ALWAYS have a choice.

Usually it's just too much trouble / hassle to go through ... all the hoops one has to jump through to prove yourself ';worthy'; ... employers usually aren't willing to 'settle' for the best they can get, or someone they have to invest in, they're looking for a 'perfect fit'

...and as Smails said, ';the world needs ditch diggers, too';
