How do you get over the fear of working hard & just losing what you work for?

How can a person who has worked hard %26amp; sacrificed so much but then lost it get back to work again. I am that person. I just can't care anymore. I was such a good person my whole life %26amp; now I just don't care. I would rather just charge my bills %26amp; relax. What is the answer to get back up %26amp; want to work again. I am so happy living as I am but the debt is mounting. I have watched how people in my country who have tons of money get away with everything %26amp; hard working people go out %26amp; build the country but end up with so may problems. I can not understand why anyone would choose to work hard. Enlighten me. Please don't criticize me, that is not answering my question. Some people have had horrible tradgedies %26amp; I am once so if you don't have an answer please just don't waste anyone's time. How do you get over the fear of working hard %26amp; just losing what you work for?
Well a famous prophet said, ';The first shall be last and the last shall be first.';

If you have it hard here than rejoice, you're treasures are in the next life or afterlife- if you do believe in one.

At times I wish my life was harder because having everything come by so easy can corrupt someone into greed/lust.

And once a person has greed they are forever held captive in the material world.

The Universe/God challenges the ones who have strength.

Do not buckle down but face the challenges and you will be thankful that you did.

Remember the saying ';When the road gets tough, the tough gets going.';

Also remember that your situation is better than someone elses.

Just being in America alone automatically makes you have a better life than people in third world countries.

So than be thankful for what you do have and embrace your challenges, for they build your character and strength. How do you get over the fear of working hard %26amp; just losing what you work for?
By getting rid of doership.
im afraid thats how life works the rich get richer and the poor get poorer im in a similar position, trustin God and he will pull u through, leave it all to him to handle, prayer!

Why do they persist in lumping people together?

Okay, I know that Abortion and Welfare are big issues for the the Right. But you need to stop lumping people together.

Not all people on welfare are lazy. I know many people who are going through a rough time and have kids to raise. Without welfare, I'd hate to think about what would happen to them and their children.

Not all women who get an abortion do so because they just don't want to care for a kid. A woman I work with was raped and became pregnant-on top of that-she was told that if she delivered the baby, there was a high chance both her and her baby would not survive-do you know what? She was a staunch anti-abortionist-she was going to keep the baby despite how she became pregnant. She went through with the procedure to save her own life.

Besides-what is worse-feeding evil? Or starving good?

First-let's look at the possibilities of no welfare.

1. The lazy people who live off the system will not be rewarded for doing so. Sounds good right?

2. But the hard working people who need the money will have no where to turn to.

3. If you think crime is bad now-wait until they have no way to support and feed their children. I'd rather I pay my fair share of welfare then have my house broken into wouldn't you?

So the Good and Bad alike suffer. Is it better to punish evil or help your neighbor? What would the Bible say about this?

Second, let's look at Abortion being outlawed.

1. Those who are lazy and don't want to take care of their kids will still try to get an abortion, and may die in the process. Even if they don't, do you think that child will grow up in a loving enviornment? After all, the parents are lazy, and didn't want him or her in the first place.

2. Those who need an abortion for health reasons will risk it as well. With high risks such as accidental infertilization or even death, they will still risk it if the know they would die otherwise.

So outlawing abortion only serves to make it worse. Remember that Prohibition lead the rise of Organized Crime in the United States. There will be a black market of quaks giving abortions to desperate women. I don't know about you, but I'd rather they have one done by a professional in a hospital.

So stop lumping all of them together. It's more important to help the good than to punish the bad. It's that simple.

They are living, breathing people just like you and I. They each have their reasons for their sitations-deserved or not.

What sickens me the most is that many of these people who lump them all together claim to be Christians, yet violate most of the Bible to uphold a few verses. How many more verses talk of helping others as compared to punishing the wicked?

So why do you keep lumping them all together? Do you realize that you are cutting off necessary help for those that need it just to punish the ones that don't?

Please, can someone explain this to me?Why do they persist in lumping people together?
I totally agree with you. It seems people are so angry about the welfare fraud, they are willing to cut off those desperate for the help. Instead of finding answers to eliminate more of the fraud cases, they will just cut off funding for everyone. Not only women with children, but MANY seniors and those families that live in areas that have been hit hard by the economic crisis - no jobs, home foreclosures, 401K savings gone under, no health insurance without a job or funds to pay for it, etc.

And abortion was determined to be legal by our Supreme Court. It is not mandatory - every woman has her own choice in the matter. Yet there are many that feel they need to make sure we do not make the wrong choice for ourselves and overturn Roe v Wade - they don't care about OUR religious beliefs, only theirs.

My Bible preaches compassion and comfort to those that need it, regardless of how they got there (judgement is reserved for God). It teaches that those with the ability also have the obligation to take care of those less fortunate... I guess many people have a Bible that is all about themselves and teaches a total disregard for the rest of God's people. Why do they persist in lumping people together?
I can't explain it to you since I totally agree with everything that you said! I wanted to make sure you weren't only attacked by the right wing but supported by those of us who believe in the same things.
You just managed to lump people together yourself.
What I don't understand is how one can suggest to outlaw abortions AND end welfare.

If deprived, unwanted babies are born, SOMEONE has to take care ot them.
wow great question.

You're right. People are going to keep doing what they want, so to illegalize abortion would just make more criminals. I have the same theory with drugs. The reason there are so many crimes related to them is because they're illegal. How many crimes are based on the ideal that drugs are illegal? If they were legal, a lot of criminals would lose business (gangs that sell them and transport them, people who steal for them, kill for them, etc).

Same thing you were saying about abortion. People will still perfrom them, and people will still get them. Instead of it being in a clean sterile enviroment, they'll be in a back alley basement with a coat hanger and a bottle of gin. So not only will a woman risk her life to have an abortion, she could end up in jail afterwards. I had a friend who used to do every drug under the sun. She found out she was pregnant and decided to have an abortion. Her mom was furious, but realized my friend was right when she told her mom about using crystal meth only a week prior. No way was she going to bring a baby into the world that had already been poisioned so much.

You're point on Welfare is right on as well. If every lazy person on welfare suddenly didn't have it, they'd find an easy way to get cash without working. Crime would increase exponentially.
I feel that welfare programs should be in place but if there is someone receiving benefits and not working they should be required to attend a Technical School or training program to make them employable. Yes the Government will have to pay for their training but after they finish and are employed they should have to pay back the tuition. Just like a person with student loans. Also on the question of abortion, It seems that you want it to be the women's choice to have one or not...ok It is my choice to have an opinion as to whether I feel abortion is right or not. I got pregnant at the age of 18 and was unmarried at the time. I hate to think what I would be today without my son.
Abortion - I don't personally support it but I don't think we should make it illegal either

Welfare - I hear what you're saying but it needs reform, a lot of reform. I'm sick and tired of going grocery shopping on a budget with my list and sticking to my budget and list and even having to fore go things sometimes and then get in line behind someone with an overflowing cart that includes name brand groceries, convenience foods and a lot more meat than the hamburger %26amp; chicken I have to just to realize their using an EBT card and using mine and your tax dollars to eat better than us. IT';S BS!!

Do people work crappy jobs because they have no choice or because they are fine with it?

First of all I've been recently thinking about the following: do all (or most) people achieve in life to some degree what they've always wanted? For example if someone REALLY always wanted to work as a truck driver or maybe a police officer, would they most of the time achieve what they wanted? Or are most people stuck doing something they don't really like, just because they have no choice? I am just trying to understand how can people work so many crappy or boring jobs out there, is it because they are fine with it? Or is it just a temp job for them till they find a career they are striving to get into? Or is it because they have no other choice?Do people work crappy jobs because they have no choice or because they are fine with it?
They ALWAYS have a choice.

Usually it's just too much trouble / hassle to go through ... all the hoops one has to jump through to prove yourself ';worthy'; ... employers usually aren't willing to 'settle' for the best they can get, or someone they have to invest in, they're looking for a 'perfect fit'

...and as Smails said, ';the world needs ditch diggers, too';

What exactly do homophobes think gay people DO?

I recently saw this documentary where a really conservative guy said there were two Americas - gays and working people. I'm guessing he's lumping liberals, artists, and maybe even white collar workers in with ';gays.'; But a few months back, I read this thing about a homophobic guy who went to live with a gay guy in San Francisco for a month for this TV show. When he got back home, his dad asked, ';What do they do for money?'; and was genuinely surprised to hear that - yes - gay people have JOBS!

This surprises me, since I always thought that careers like interior design, fashion design, work in theatre and the arts, and so on, were stereotyped as gay careers. I figured everybody knew of the stereotype, and that homophobes in particular believed it. But now I'm not so sure. I live inside a gay-friendly liberal bubble, so I have to ask: do homophobes think gay people don't work? And so expand on that, how do they think gay people live in general? I mean, I've heard the stereotypes about partying every night, having sex with lots of different people, doing drugs, what have you, but is there more to it?What exactly do homophobes think gay people DO?
Lol! You mean we don't all live off the state or a sugar mama or dad! Darn, I thought I was getting a free ride here! J/K

Hard working bisexual lab rat! What exactly do homophobes think gay people DO?
Actually, I think the problem is they haven't really thought about it, they just criticize. Somewhat like those who think that all Atheists are evil satan worshiping scum. Thy really don't know what they are on about, they have their heads so far up their backsides they can't actually see what they are complaining about.
why do you all worry so much about the opinions of the ignorant.
I agree w/ PDeavans 'cause there is really no reason to worry about what people who have there noses buried in a bible think about us 'cause we can't change there minds for them all that we can do is help them turn the pages.
The gays work most definitely and some are very successful in corporate America as well as fashion, the arts (ie. theatre) and that sort of thing. I dont think homophobic people assume gays dont work many of them have very lavish lifestyles actually and make good money on average I have read somewhere.
People are ignorant and they don't understand about other people who live different lives than them and so they judge them for not living the way they want them to but screw that ';i'm gay'; and i will live the way i want.
I am gay and I grew up in a very conservative area of the country - let's just call it the Southeast United States lol - and I can certainly understand these sentiments; but frankly I abhor hate - whether its from the religious homophobes on the right or the liberal gay activists on the left.

You can't denounce hatred and participate in it at the same time - like Sean Penn did in his acceptance speech for ';Milk'; last night.
I think a lot of homophobes are not able to seriously sit down and rationalize their hatred toward homosexuals. Like with a lot of ';straight'; guys, they always just say things like they think its gross or not natural or whatever. Okay thats fine, but thats a personal opinion. Like I dont want to watch extremely obese people having sex so you know what? I dont. Nor do I think about it or imagine every time I meet someone who is obese.

And thats the other thing. Its not all about the sex yet thats what they seem to concentrate on so much. Like these body parts dont fit with those. You have got to be kidding me. There are so many exceptions to that rule in the hetero world. Just face facts, some people simply like to try to suppress others cause it makes them feel more powerful, superior, ';normal';.
i know it might sound weird but i'll say it anyways. homophobes say gay people is wrong because the bible said so. christians (weird people) they also said boy sex with boy, they can't take a dump and die. that makes me mad but they can't judge us by the way we are. we don't hold in dump and die. they just say things so they're right and we're wrong.
I wonder at the ignorance of people, and you have just illustrated a new low for me.

As a gay man, I worked hard all my life, and although now semi-retired, I still work up to 17 hours a day.
';What exactly do homophobes think gay people DO?';

All the sordid things THEY would do if they could just get over the guilt...

Why do people think if you like sex you're acting black?

I dont know why but people tell me I act like a black person. I wear preppy clothes but I like to get drunk hang out and have sex as much as possible screw it you only live once. They say I am a disgrace because I am acting black. I said well I am an atheist and dont need to live to your moral code that you have decided to live with. These are mostly work people. At work I am completely professional, on time and work harder then anyone but I can sense a lot of hatred when ever I walk into a room. They say they treat me crappy so I will change, but I am not too concerned about their person opionons and I feel that they should maintain a more professional working enviornment where they dont allow personal feelings to affect them. But what I dont understand is how does enjoying hanging out on the weekends getting wasted in sweats makes me black. Why do people think if you like sex you're acting black?
Yeah your mom fat cock stuck in her ***Why do people think if you like sex you're acting black?
stop making **** up.

i thought it was indians cause in jamaica there is a saying that indians have white liver... ahahahahahaa.

but anyway this is a dumb question and anybody who asks these is an ignorant idiot everybody loves sex...and if you don't you need to see a doctor..
dude i never heard this in my life u making this up
i dont know? but ive heard this aswell, its just another stereotype that people say blacks are more addicted to sex than others
god, seriously? only black people like sex now? well, if that's true it's only a matter of time until the other races go extinct and blacks have the whole planet to themselves, right? i can't wait. seriously, i'm very excited.
It's all just a stupid, ignorant stereotype. How does liking sex automatically means you are acting ';black?'; People from all races like sex.

Please help. Irish people with GENUINE financial issues?

My partner is unfortunately out of work for 15 months. Do not judge please..he works in a specialist area, has worked 25yrs and paid taxes and does not want to be unemployed. Its not just a case of taking any job and its not snobbery, he just wont get it in a supermarket with his experience. The reason we cannot move for him to get work is because i'm the only child of two sick parents %26amp; a sick sibling (all in care) and i want to be near them. I work full time and take home 530 euro p.w after tax. We pay 900 euro rent. Again dont judge us for renting, we just did not want to end up with a huge mortgage we could not pay off if one of us was made redundant so we decided to stay renting. We are co habiting this past 4 years. But....we do not have Joint accounts or anything like that. Everything is split down the middle. My partner received the money you get from if you have paid taxes until last november. Then it was cut and he was means tested. It was then decided by welfare that i pay all the bills and that hes not entitled to any benefit. Just because i live with him. He mentioned me as partner and had to show my payslip. HOwever things have been bad since xmas and we split last January and he has since moved to his sisters house, not with me. The welfare has decided that he is not entitled to any money based on MY INCOME. but at the moment we are on a break. How will this work out now? Its just a break, it doesnt mean we wont get back together. Now i'm strangled paying rent on a full house but i refuse to move, i'm not sharing with strangers, i'm 34yr old woman with too much stress in mylife already adn we are decent hard working peoplePlease help. Irish people with GENUINE financial issues?
**sigh**Please help. Irish people with GENUINE financial issues?
If you have split with your partner and he has moved out - he must go to Appeals at the welfare. If you and he are complicating matters by 'being together but not together' then you are going to come up against a brick wall.

Not sure about Ireland but in England you could get housing advice from SHELTER.

Consider moving to a smaller place and getting in a lodger - I had a great one for about a year and he became part of the family. Sometimes we have to bite the bullet and it dosn't always turn out as bad as we had imagined.

Good luck

I work with several crazy people. They are freaking manic depressives. I do not enjoy it - they are mean, and unapproachable. Its super hard to do my work because i'm left alone to flounder all the time.

How would you networking with people to move up in your career????

I am a third year engineer and want information on social networking. I find it weird to just talk to people for a job. How and what should I say when I talk to people working for the company I want to work for. How do I ask some stranger to refer my name to the HR department or hire me for a job. Please explain me in detail. I would really appreciate it. thanksHow would you networking with people to move up in your career????
I'm an almost clinical introvert who has overcome my natural tendencies by studying those who are less socially crippled. Here is what I have learned...

    1) The most important thing you can remember about anyone you are introduced to is his or her first name.

    2) Whoever is asking the questions is ALWAYS in control of the conversation.

    3) One of the easiest question you can ask is what you would need to know to refer a friend as a customer (most people will be happy to talk about their work as long as you are willing to listen). If you want this person to remember you, refer a friend as soon as possible.

From the point of view of a human resources professional I would recommend that you broaden your sphere of influence within the organization you wish to work for. You'll be more successful chatting up ten people than two. When you do get a referral, research the company before your interview, know something about their history and direction. Make it clear that you're intersted in learning, contributing toward the mission, and growing with the company (a wage and benefit package or the nature of your entry level responsibility is incidental).

Hope this helps. Learning the tricks of the extrovert is never easy. How would you networking with people to move up in your career????
Sleep with them, or their wives

How do people work stressful jobs?

I really do not get how people can work 9-5 jobs Monday through Friday with bosses in your face telling you to hurry up or to smile. I am self employed at home as a programmer and when I was making good money life was great. Now I am losing money due to the economy so I may have to look into being a slave again. While reviewing the job ads, they remind me of how much I used to hate stressful jobs.

I rather have an easy job with average pay in a 1,300 sq ft home in a quiet neighborhood, than a ridiculously stressful job making $100K. I know some people say ';do what you love as a hobby as a job!'; however I used to LOVE working on cars and making them fancy with nice interiors and speakers, however after working as an installer for Circuit City, after I quit that job I never did anything custom to a car ever again.

So I am afraid to get a job as a programmer and hate it to a point where I no longer want to even look at a PC again like I did with installing car stereos. I think I must have mental problems or something since working such a job as a slave is extremely hard for me to a point where I hate life and I just have to quit working due to pounding migraines and sore legs. How do people work stressful jobs?
    I would guess people that work stressful jobs have a successful way of relaxing and leaving the stress behind, or they just hide the stress from the outside world. You're not weak or anything because you quit a high-stress job. You just need to find a way to deal with stress. A few ways I deal with stress in the short-term are;

    1. I listen to music (if I can, but usually I can't. However, this works best for me, especially if the music is slow and calming, like some of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata).

    2. I imagine how I'll feel after I've finished the stressful task; relaxed, because that's one less thing to do, happy, because that means I'm that much closer to being done for the day, etc.

    3. I imagine a vacation. It's like taking a vacation, but you're in the office/in the classroom/on the street. Personally, I imagine being on my own private island, sitting under the palm trees, listening to the waves and the seagulls, and watching a brilliant orange and purple sunset.

Also, the links below can give you more ideas. Find what works for you, and find a different place to work at where you can do the things you love. You can always find a different hobby to turn into your profession, but make it your second or third favorite thing to do. Make a list of your three favorite hobbies. Avoid choosing the first hobby, because then it becomes tedious and boring (unless you're really passionate and enthuisiastic about it). Good luck. I hope you find a low-stress job you like. :)How do people work stressful jobs?

Why are there so many ignorant people out there who don't see things clearly & make bad life decisions?

People who have 10 kids but can't afford them and don't work, people who are too faithful, naive, and trustful and can't see the things happening behind the scenes in this world, people who keep saying blindly how great this world is, how great America is, yadda yadda, while corruption, greed, scandals, and all sorts of evil things go on daily....on and on and on.

It's like we're all surrounded by ignorant people who make horrible life decisions, who can also influence us, and that's horrible for the people who are already trying to grasp what's going on in the world and looking for the truth; fed more lies and brainwashed opinions, and ignorance from people.

    I mean I keep looking at all these people devastated by the economy, and so many of them had houses they couldn't afford, MANY kids, bad jobs to begin with, no education; so many horrible decisions, and then they end up wallowing in their own misery because of themselves, and they take it out on everyone else sometimes;

it's like okay, you f'ed up, DEAL with it. These people want sympathy from others who they didn't care about when things were going good, and now they expect the same people they stepped on to HELP them?

lololol!!! that's not happening, is it? And they want people to pray and help each other out, etc.

Why didn't they pray BEFORE this happened, and pray to make better life decisions before they ended up ...so horrid?

See what I'm saying? So many ignorant people, troubled people, bad decision making, can't see the big picture and aren't all that bright to begin with,

which only makes it harder for the rest us, and people like me who WANT to learn more and educate ourselves.

Some out there are lucky to know what's going on period and are very intellectual, others are dumb, and then there's people like me in between, who don't want to get dragged down by the dummies.

It's bad enough we had to sit through 8 years of a st8pid as f8ck president, who the majority of the public fell for and listened to like total 9d90ts.Why are there so many ignorant people out there who don't see things clearly %26amp; make bad life decisions?
Unfortunately, there will always be stupid people, making stupid decisions in life. I see them all the time, and is best to just stay away from them. LOL..

Just be sure you are not one of them. :) and by the sounds of it, you are already way above the rest in your thinking. :) Keep aiming higher... and you will not be dragged down by the fools. Dont let them make you bitter either though. Focus on the good that there is, and surround yourself with the intelligent sorts.

Wishing you a great day today and all that is good in life...

XWhy are there so many ignorant people out there who don't see things clearly %26amp; make bad life decisions?
I guess that they haven't learned to consult the experience and wisdom of middle-class suburban teenagers who own computers and are more than willing to solve all the problems of the world.
    Short answer: People are human.

Long answer: People are human, and humans tend to be incredibly dumb.
It's cannabis-1 out of every 2 or 3 people seem to smoke it regularly.
Yeah its human nature to be stupid and ask for sympathy in return.

Its like when we sin and try to hurry up and ask for forgiveness even thought we know fully we shouldn't do it at all in the 1st place.

Why do people hate mexicans so much?

ok yes i am mexican my parents came here illegally and i was born adn raised here....

this is my opinion on this....

i think that mexicans are hard working people that would come to the US LEGALLY if they wer aloud too but most mexicans that you see here had to come to the US as a last minute change for the need of $ and survival of thyr fanilies.ive gone to MEx and i hate how their gov is ran, they have no control. and coming into a country wer your rights are being given to you just for the sole cause of bring a human being is a great positive change,,,,, mexicans aint steeling no ones jobs if illegal mexicans can get jobs so can any other person especially US citizents 4 havin higher education so stealing jobs isnt the problem another thing to look at is how many mexican homeless do u see in the strees? how mwny white people do you see in the streets? the problem with this is that a mexican will do any kind of work 4 lil $ but others just tink its easy to go and beg 4 $.....

ok now not being able to learn english... is another BIG subject. i met people who have been here for many years and dont speack a word in english and i met people that had few or no yrs here ans speak english or try to speack english now wats the problem with this? that many cant afford english clases. that many have children a job house work and a husban to look after....well we can use the internet or a book right? who is going to practice with us? i understand that the US cant just open the borders because thats just plain stuped. but why so much discrimination and hate to a race.

i love the USA of course there is few things i dnt like about it but who tinks the USA ia perfect? i dont... but i wouldnt love to live in a different place than this

please answer politelly i mean u can support ure side but dnt be rude about the topic. Why do people hate mexicans so much?
i dont hate mexicans as long as they're respectful and hard working, and most of the ones i have met were. its america though, it doesnt matter how hard a mexican works or how respectful they are, if they're illegal, americans are goin to hate them no matter what which i think is stupid. personally, im asian american and we value respect and hard work so i appreciate it if i see it and mexicans do their jobs well. my parents agree they tae the worse jobs but do it well without complaining which is what i can respect. but its these other american azzholes that'll look down on u for being an illegal mexican which pisses me offWhy do people hate mexicans so much?
i hate them cuz they all cut in the lunch line like 20 people at a time!! and they steal the three spots at that one table.. i like the dude who be selling mangos an slushies on the street. he's cool.

Well I am mexican, tambien, and well we are all-around people, we adapt to everything and are very good at any practice we try, tambien. Quiza, its the jealousy of the American People who cant stand such great ability to adapt and gain all these strengths that really prevent America from falling in the lower unseen shadows of the area.
I live in American where Mexicans do the hating, maybe if they stopped hating they would be less hated, it's a shockingly simple concept. And what do your people have against obeying laws anyway? Just because someone works hard doesn't give them the right to crap all over another country.
    they dont hate mexicans, besides the fact that people have false fears of those ';swine flu';

and mexican cartels linking those illegals to u.s. and mexico

which is probably true to the cartel part
cuz theyre awesome %26amp; people are jealous.

%26amp; im not even mexican, im finnish.
    I don't.....
Ever notice the Mexicans that claim they are hated are the ones breaking all the laws? Coincidence, I think not. Maybe people hate law breakers.

Mexicans that work hard and come the legal way are hated no more than anyone else. Maybe they just don't realize people hate law breakers.

Where I live, the Mexicans are some the single most racist people by far, what goes around comes around.
I don't see much hatred of Mexicans.

Having said that, I don't have much appreciation for those who can't be bothered to come here legally, learn english or pay the same taxes we do. And, sorry, but I don't buy the bit about illegals not taking jobs. Illegals that take jobs not only keep another person unemployed, but also reduce the willingness of business to pay a fair wage and benefits to the rest of us.

When I was young, Mexicans in general were some of the hardest working people, but today, they do not seem to be harder workers than the rest of society. (I guess that's one way of blending in with the rest of our lazy population.)

    I don't hate Mexicans.
the U.S.A. allows more immigrants into it's nation than almost any other country on earth. The majority of the immigrants apporved are from Mexico. There is NO excuse for some moron to piss on the U.S.A.'s laws and illegal immigrate the lazy way. That's just rude and disrrespctful to the U.S.A. citizens and all the legal immigrants that did things the right way.

Of course people that came the illegal way are going to rationalize why they broke the law, but you'll have to forgive us if we aren't buying all the bull.
Im mexican and my parents were born here and i was born here. I just have a problem with them not learning english. It would be ok but then they yell at me for not knowing spanish!...Im in america and don't need or want to learn spanish. I would never go to mexico and yell at someone for not knowing english.
samcro is pretty much right, I'm half mexican, my mom came illegally but my dads white and I look white too because my moms skin is lighter than most but newayz...Immigration is very friendly in America but whats going on is yes these poor, very desperate people are coming to our country but their coming ILLEGALLY, with no records, no proof of identity, not paying taxes and funding the state, all these things are problems and sometimes dangerous to the citizens that are here already. I do feel bad for illegals and they go through very hard lives but America is founded on certain orders or laws of the land and if your ignoring them its going to hurt our country and our security. One thing that I see too is that the mexican people are strong with their cultures and I dont necessarily think thats a bad thing but it prevents them from really adapting to being americans and fitting in. These things will change as well as the kids go to american schools and learn the language and they have kids etc but its really going to change our culture the more that illegals come in and its at a pretty fast rate. I dont think we should have to change our languages for them either rather they take a lot of time and effort to learn our language and respect our country even if its at a slow pace. BTW if it wasnt for my mom crossing illegally I wouldnt be here typing right now but its kind of just a fact and what I can see is going on.

How best to schedule 3 people to work 2 shifts 14hours 7days, working 5 days each with 2 days break.?

I need to figure out the most even distribution of two shifts 10:00-19:00 and 15:00-midnight among 3 people to cover seven 14 hour days allowing for all three to be working on a monday, each have a 2 day break after working 5 days straight.

The idea is to have the 2 day breaks alternating between the 3 people weekly yet maintaining a fair amount of early and late shifts per person and providing that all three are working on a monday. There also needs to be only two people working on saturdays and sundays.

I have grapled with this and have found a simple solution that sacrifices the 3-people-on-monday idea and 2-people-on-saturday/sunday idea (When a 6 day week with 2 day break ovelaps with a normal 5 day week, the off days increment by a day every week on the normal week, which means the 3 people days also increment). All should work 6 days with 2 days off. Is paying them for a six day week and sacrificing the monday idea the only option? How best to schedule 3 people to work 2 shifts 14hours 7days, working 5 days each with 2 days break.?
Right! Are there 3 persons per shift? Is this a standard 40 hour, closed Sat %26amp; Sun type of business. Or is it open 24 hours per day?

What someine needs is more data to work with.

    Total number of personnel

Total number of hours per day open for business

Total number of Days per weel open for business

Do you have standby for illness or injury?

Just too many variants for the amount of info given.

Why do people think that only people who make $250,000 a year work hard for their money?

I think anyone who goes to work every day and supports his/her family works hard. How come some people (REPUBLICANS) think that only high income people work hard? They say that people who make high incomes work harder because they try harder, have gone to school, etc. etc. But excuse me, I am a college graduate, a member of Mensa, and worked very hard to graduate with honors. What did it get me except for a job that makes $26,0000 a year, which on the pay scale is considered ';entry level';. Just because I don't make more doesn't mean I don't work hard! I resent being called lazy. (Scroll down on this page and read the third comment-it's people like this that make me mad!http://community.myfoxdetroit.com/blogs/鈥?/a> Do you think the only people who work hard are the rich people? Why do people think that only people who make $250,000 a year work hard for their money?
It usually comes out fairly.Brains, Labor, and Talent have something to do with it. I don't have class envy, because at an early age I realized If I worked hard and saved my money I could have a 2 story home like in the movies. It's called delayed gratification. I made a plan early in life and I have stuck to it.So I really can't sit and worry about the rich, and I don't like to work that much (job wise). I saw Bill Gates on TV last night, he has a Gazillion dollars,he does a lot of good (not nickel %26amp; dime things) he just doesn't brag about it.Why do people think that only people who make $250,000 a year work hard for their money?
Working a lot does not mean doing a lot of work.

What I mean to say is first, I don't care how much money someone makes..I care about their heart. There are many opportunities out there but they are only apparent to those that seek them. To seek one must be prepared to fail and lose all. It requires courage, daring and a little luck. It requires looking at ones' interior with honesty and accepting ones' limits...true limits. We all have them but few can face the truth about themselves. One must have the ability to judge others correctly or one will fall prey to the deceitful....if not born with money it is left to only a few to become rich by their own work.
The right wing and the christians are, of course, not concerned with American ideals or fairness. They are concerned with accumulating power. The myth of 'God rewards good people' is the mantra that they want people to believe.

My old man worked like a dog. I worked like a dog. My brother died working like a dog. But 'little' people are of no concern to those people.
In my experience the higher the income the less hard work is actually done.
In order not to feel guilty, higher-paid folks have to imagine that they work harder. Lower-paid folks know it isn't true. Look at George Bush. The good life was pretty much handed to him on a silver platter, despite his personal incompetency. I am sure he feels he deserves every cent he gets. But don't get discouraged by what other people think. You have everything it takes to be successful in your own way. Through hard work.
You have to understand that it is only a small number of them that make $250k+. Most of them who think that way are either silver spoon old money elitist snobs or greedy crooked backstabbers who got where they are by being selfish.

Republican supporters are another story as most of them live in rural or small town America, have been raised with racist or misguided values and have been the victims of deceit by the Bush administration like the rest of us. The only difference is that those of us who didn't vote for Bush suspected all along that Bush %26amp; Cheney were dirty, only we had no idea just how crooked they really were. The brainwashed Republican supporters have this idea that all ';liberals'; and Democrats support letting lazy minorities stay at home and collect from government programs.

The truth is that the average income (and IQ) of the states that Gore %26amp; Kerry won in 2000 %26amp; 2004 was higher than of those who voted for Bush.

    Obama - Clinton 2008
    Two things.

1- It's a commonly accepted belief that the harder you work (go thou college, spend hours at work and all that) the more money you make which is untrue in most cases like yours.

2- Many great (financially speaking) had to work really hard and make sacrifices at first in order to arrive to the point where they didn't need to work as hard the general community.
Especially when it is harder for us to get the kind of education that the rich got. Without a college education, it is impossible to get anywhere.
definitely not....I have a good job making decent money....before this I worked as a waitress/bartender (for minimum wage) for 10 years...anybody who thinks this is easy has never worked in the hospitality industry....I think if you enjoy what you do and can live decently you've got it made..
    A wise person once told me . . .

It's not how much or little one make's, but what they do with it

once they have it in there hands and are not on company time

anymore, a person with ten dollars can have as good a time

as someone with ten thousand dollars, if, they know the right

    game in town . . .

Moviestars and athletes make astronomical sums of money

in this country of ours that cries poverty and depression, ever

wonder where the hell all the money come's from, let alone

where the f**k it all goes? glorously building new strucures

that would shame the collosieum in rome, new stadiums the

size of countries, while we're morphing into a third world

    country . . .

Yet teachers who nowadays take there life in there hands

just walking into a class room, and nurses who help heal

the sick and do jobs i doubt brittney spears or paris hilton

would consider getting there hands dirty doing, along

with the rest of us mortals, yet only get about what you claim

to make, yet we're right there to blame teachers for our kids

failures, seems we forgot the fact that none of us would be

what we are without them . . .

We're a culture that glorifies work because in a sick way,

it's a form of power we can call our own, something to revel

in, something we throw each others faces, while we secretly

resent ourselves because we can't be like the rich that we

    so readily condem . . .

No they don't work hard, they work smart, and have different

motives than ours, we want to control ourselves while they

just simply want control everything on the f***ing planet

including us, i might add, in which they seem to be very

sucessfull in doing these days, right under our noses i might

add while the rest of us continuiously go about our daily

bussiness of merely bitching and judgeing one another while

blinded to the fact that we're no better than those rich folks

in the eys of someone pooer than us . . .

We take pride in working ourselves to death, so it only

stands to reason we think we're entittle to put others

down who don't work for what ever the reason, and yet

we'll b***h just as quickly, at some one who doesn't work

merely because they we're smart with there money and have

obtained the easy life, which in reality though we deny it,

    is what we're all after . . .

which is my guess why they invented a word called vacation,

which btw, we all scream about in the event we should be

    Short . . .

change one moment of it, and yet in the next breath b***h

about imigrants, who we claim to be taking our jobs cause

there willing to do work we think is below our dignity, not to

    mention, doesn't pay a kazillion dollars an hour . . .

Just survivng peoples daily rotten judgemental attitudes is the

hardest work of all, and that's one profession no one can

collect on let alone need to be a phd from harvard, to excell

    in there field at . . .

Peace instead of peices, 2 the world, rich %26amp; poor, alike . . .

Why do people on welfare eat better than I do?

I worked as a cashier for many years and typically people that come in and but things with the food stamp card are buying steak, soda, frozen lasagna, pizza, and snacks. And rarely do they clip coupons, probably cause they are lazy and love to spend working people's tax money. How come, I am a hard working mother that has to eat ramen for lunch? How come, I have to clip coupons like crazy and buy hamburger in bulk to save money? How come I NEVER can afford to buy steak? How come because I work and don't sit on my fat lazy butt all day do I have to suffer? Oh, and I don't qualify for financial aide to go to college either. Guess I have to stop working to qualify for any assistance. Then we wonder why our economy is so bad......Why do people on welfare eat better than I do?
One of the biggest problems in America today. People like you working their tails off to get ahead while others get it for free. Welfare reform is needed, people have started relying on it as a way to maintain their life, not as a tool to get back on their feet which is what it was originally intended for.Why do people on welfare eat better than I do?
Many of them have 4 or 5 kids at home, all with different daddies. The more babies, the more food stamps, the bigger the check.
For that one week, they may do so. It is an allotted amount of money for the entire month. Perhaps they saved up so they could have the steaks on day out of the month. Once they are out of money on their card, they too will be eating ramen noodles.

Interesting that you are criticizing the food choices of poor people while Corporate Welfare costs you 5 times more than does social welfare....and they are buying jets, giving themselves million dollar bonuses, and traveling around the country for luxurious 'business' meetings at resort hotels.
good question, i remember trying to stretch $20 a week sometimes, calculating thru the store as i shopped.

but to answer, apparently there's few limits on food stamps. and they can buy whatever including seafood. only limit i know of is they can't buy food already prepared.
You are now a second class citizen.
It's not really fair. People on welfare get free medication and end up getting scripts for $500 worth of oxycontin which they'll turn around and sell on the streets. They get free dental, etc. and I can't afford to get a cavity fixed :/
Instead of being so concerned about what poor people are eating and how much of your tax dollars are helping them, you should be questioning what Obama is going to do with your tax dollars! Sure there are people who abuse the welfare system, but there are also people who really do need the assistance. Just like there are politicians who abuse their power. Food Stamps are based on your income, family size, how many working adults in the household and if there is anyone in the household that is disabled. You have no idea what those families situations are, therefore you should not be so judgmental.

That tattoo on your shoulder could've bought a couple steaks, shrimp and maybe even some lobster! Didn't think about that one, huh?

Uh, yeah I get that you worked for your money to buy your tatts. You're absolutely right you spend your money on what you want, that's why you're not eating steak; but those are some nice tattoos! You obviously prefer a tattoo over steak!
That is a problem. Too many departments with too many employees in government that nobody in govenment knows what the other is doing. So they have created a system maze. Welfare is like a ';right'; even when employers are crying for workers - they can't get them because ';welfare pays better';. Landlords don't care - they get paid. It is a guaranteed income.

What is lost is the ';pride'; that comes with working and earning a living. Leeching off others is now OK. The answer is not so simple. It is a mindset that has to be changed.
well angela, some of us have known this for years.year after year.they grow up in it.and they spend there life in it.there not accountable to any one.all though they are supposed to be.now these people will benifit even more with this so called stimulis package.there at a point now where they think they are entitled to it.the democrate party is a give away party.that is how they buy there votes.with the power they hold now.look out.this president has already spent more money in one month than any other president has before.at least bush kept us safe that a lot of ingrates think was no big deal.well every eye will open this year.he can only blame bush so long.GOD help us.
i am so sorry what the first person said. there is nothing wrong with plus size women. i think you should report that person
And are you trying to say they all are like that. You don't know that they don't work too and maybe that is why they have extra money. You know you can and in many states ar erequired to work full time and still get welfare and foodstamps.

I really think you should shut your hole before you talk and make hasty generalizations. I am a single mom as well and I bust my butt more than you probably ever have. I am on assistance, but I have FT nursing school, PT work and I volunteer in a hospital PT. I have worked since I was legally able to and have not stopped working since except for a year when my son was born, which half of that time I was still with the father. I do clip coupons, I do pinch pennies, I don't buy all that fancy stuff, I do buy all generic. So listen to me honey, close your mouth and look around. i am sure you focused on all the negative because you are bitter, but relax everyone isn't like that.

Oh and by the way, statistically speaking, most food stamp recipients run out of foodstamps by the 2nd or 3rd week of te month and have to rely on food banks. The only places where this doesn't happen is states that provide an outrageous amount, which is usually as a reward for working, such as how Nevada does it. Also, many states give you double foodstamps when you get off welfare cash aid regardless of how much money you make because it is an incentive to get off and stay off...so with this being said, those people do deserve to buy what they please because they are too, as you are, working hard for their money.
I just stopped by in hopes of getting a better look at that tat on your shoulder

    %26lt;%26lt;----Collector.

Some people on Welfare are leaches. My Ex has threatened to get on just so she can tell people I forced her to.

She's the one that cheated and left.

How can I hide my pregnancy from my co-workers and boss?

So, I am seven weeks and really sick.

I have morning sickness and am always exhausted and hormonal.

At work people ask what is wrong with me.

I do not want anyone to know until the middle of May because that is when I am done my probation (govt job).

I know they cannot fire me because I am pregnant but they might find an excuse not to pass my probation.

Any advice. I am a terrible liar and really excited abou this baby. How can I hide my pregnancy from my co-workers and boss?
Boo hoo. You spend more time on Yahoo expecting us to care, than you do at your job. If you get fired, then you'll just have more time to spend on here, right?!?

****. PLEASE don't get fired. I beg of you. The last thing we need on here is you sitting here asking another pregnancy question every 5 minutes.

And,for the record, nausea is a part of pregnancy. You're so happy about the baby,so quit bitching about the nausea. How can I hide my pregnancy from my co-workers and boss?
I wouldn't lie about it. Nausea meds wouldn't hurt, but lying gets you nowhere.
You'd be showin by or b4 May. Only thing i can suggest is to gain weight and lots of it. No one ever notices when an overweight person is pregnant.
I realise there's the ';I am a terrible liar'; part, but.

    ';I've started a new medication and am having a horrible time with the side effects. No, I really don't want to discuss it. It's for something my mother had, too; it's not serious. I'll be okay.';

There're loads of fairly common medications that can make people nauseated, tired, and fat. Anti-depressants and the birth control pill come to mind. Most people have been on something with bad side effects or know somebody who has; it won't be incomprehensible.

After May, your ';new medication'; can be revealed as, well, pre-natal vitamins, nausea medication, fibre supplements; that sort of pregnancy stuff...
get some puke meds form your doc. wear big clothes and then lie you butt off. it is not there busy anyway. good luck
Something you ate, nervous, and you know you won't show for a little bit longer.
Look up some facts about the FMLA act. They really can't discriminate against you because you are protected under that law. If they do, fight it. Or, just tell them....you may be surprised at how they may react. Good luck!
ask your doctor for some nausea medicine, it worked wonders for me, and I barely missed a day of work.
I know that if you are talking about the Canadian Government that you have nothing to worry about. They have been known to hire people who won't even be able to start until after their mat leave, or are only on the job for a few months before starting mat leave. As for the American Government I am sure that it is not much different.

But if you insist on hiding it I would just say that you aren't sleeping well and it is making to tired and moody. Be careful though because if you are concerned that they won't pass your probation if you are pregnant they may not pass you if they feel that you are a sickly person who make take a lot of time off for sick leave....At least a pregnancy they can understand. And don't forget that by May you could be very showing and it makes it much harder to hide.
Ask your doctor what you can do for the nausea. As for the exhaustion, try getting more rest when you can. As for the hormonal issue, I think people usually make the assumption that it could be PMS, but try your best to hide your emotions...like take a little extra time in the bathroom and do some relaxation breathing. Best of luck to you!
Hold out as long as you can, but May is still 3 months away, which is a long time. Best of luck~
So tell the truth and work until May...they will understand. If you dont say something they will think your hung over or something. They will understand!!!
Stuff your breast. It evens out your body shape and makes you look fat. You'll get jokes but say you're going to ';diet'; and when the baby is out, show off your ';weight loss';! (Stuff gradually so it looks like you're packing on the pounds.)
Make up some kind of disease. I dunno, thyroid disorder, something. No one suspected I was pregnant when I was tossing my cookies.

But honestly, you're right they can not fire you, and even a HINT that you were fired while pregnant could win you a big law suit.

Can someone please edit my essay for social work?

I wanted to become a social worker when I realized that Social Work is very similar to Psychology, my major in undergraduate school. Similar with the exception that it puts more emphasis on helping people find their strengths, rather than giving them a diagnosis and being predominantly problem-focused. My own experience in helping people with their problems, and enjoying it, influenced me to pursue a career in Social Work.

Becoming a full professional with a graduate degree in Social Work represents the culmination of many years of personal and professional preparation. I have always enjoyed working people and helping them with their problems. At 34, I feel that I have the maturity necessary to perform at my best level once again, as a student. I also have a high level of motivation that accompanies my current position. I work with incarcerated youth who, by the way, are mostly minorities.I am deeply concerned by the explosive incarceration rates in America, specifically the way males lead the way in going to jail, rather than going to college, working, etc. I feel this sense of urgency makes me an excellent candidate for your Master's Program because I am so fully engaged at my place of employment. It is my sincere hope to be able to contribute to discussions of how to best counsel and care for at-risk youth. My research interest focuses on boys, especially those at risk for spending their young adulthood behind bars.

I am currently working at Harbor View Adolescent Center. I am a Youth Counselor for incarcerated youth with behavioral and emotional problems in a residential treatment facility. In my job as a youth counselor, my primary work responsibility is to serve as a positive role model for adolescents aged twelve to eighteen. The residents have backgrounds of homelessness, and are also victims of physical and sexual abuse. Some of them were dealing with drug and alcohol abuse, depression, and juvenile justice system. At times, my job could be extremely stressful But I discovered that I had the ability to connect with the adolescents and develop strong emotional ties with them. I focused on helping them with their social skills, coping skills, and independent living skills. My main goal was to help them build their self-esteem and improve their sense of security.

The adolescents that I worked with in the residential treatment facility Could get physically assaultive AT TIMES; throwing chairs and banging their heads on the doors. They would also exhibit self-harming behaviors. It was during these criTICAL situations that I would get stuck in knowing WHAT the best clinical approach WAS to use when they were self-harming. I would like to have better tools for helping these kids when they are in crisis and KNOW whether those interventions are well supported by the literature. I hope that, with the aid of a Master's Degree in Social Work, I CAN ACHIEVE that. I WANT TO be able to help my kids in THEIR TIME OF crisis and (OMITam at) TEACH them the necessary skills THEY WILL NEED TO transition into more independent WAY OF living.

These youth need all the help and attention we can give them in order to fight recidivism, especially THE African- American and Hispanic males, who continuALLY come back into our system. If you were to grant me the privilege of studying in your program, I WOULD LIKE TO research the recidivisim rates of black and Hispanic juveniles and young adoLEscents. I WISH to contribute to our understanding of how we can best go about saving their lives and, at the same time, easE the financial burdens on our society. Can someone please edit my essay for social work?

  • Should i take time off work due to depression?

I'm a 24 year old guy working in a busy office. Many have said i have a lot going for me calling me good looking and other things. However I have suffered low moods for many years now. The last year or so it has worsened mainly due to health related problems- IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), nasal problems, sexual issues-lack of libido.. also other factors such as breaking up with girlfriend whom i loved (she works with me but thankfully not same office!). My social life is very poor as a result too.

As a result I struggle at work. People don't really notice, though i have told my manager a few things and she was rather sympathetic. Here are the problems; I wake up exhausted dreading to come in. I stroll in late. I am very slow paced. My focus and concentration is poor. I don't understand or enjoy the job much anymore and try to fluke my way through it. I am easily irritated by things- every sound, telephone ring, movement. I feel as though people are watching me and how i do my work, i cant even make a phone call with more then 2 people in the room as i fear i might say the wrong thing. All of my other worries are on my mind too. Sometimes i have to leave the room, run to the bathroom and burst into tears! To top things off, i am very tired every day and lack energy, i end up sleeping on the bus home.

I just want to get better. I am currently arranged to speak to a counselor which is a start. I feel that a few weeks off also may help but i terrified of what people will think and say when i come back. I mean they think i have it all going for me, so they would certainly question and gossip about me. Also there are many changes in the work place taking place soon and me not being there might raise questionsShould i take time off work due to depression?
Whatever you think about how you are going to run your life remember that your health must come first. You have to choose which one has first priority your health or your work. You have to slow down. Don't think too much about people, when you get sick no body would care about you. Go ahead and see a counselor, it might help. I wish you the best , it seems you're a good man.Should i take time off work due to depression?
Most of us suffer from depression now and then but if it seems to be a permanent problem you might perhaps have to learn to live with it. Sometimes suitable treatment might perhaps help so perhaps a counselor might be able to help.

A few weeks off work might not necessarily help as this could create a few new problems due to your changing work environment. Dealing with gossip could be another new problem.

Perhaps some of your health problems are due to an unhealthy lifestyle so perhaps you can find some useful tips in a web search for ';healthy lifestyles';.

Relationship problems such as breaking up with a girlfriend don't help but this happens to lots of people so you have to keep plugging along regardless which, of course, is easier said than done.

Sympathy from your manager certainly helps a bit but hopefully your counselor can do a bit better as sympathy alone is not a real remedy. Sympathy may perhaps help to soften the pain a bit.
Stick it out until you've seen the counselor. One thing I've found is that my depression symptoms get WORSE when I'm not on a regular schedule. If I take a week off from work and just stay at home, being inactive makes me feel even lower than before. Staying as busy as possible helps distract your mind from the worries.
I had exactly the same problem 2 years ago, I was really depressed and couldn perform at work due to this. I'm not sure if you are in the UK or US so i guess it depends on the rules surrounding such things but I would firstly get a note from your Doctor saying you are suffering from depression and he/she will also advise you of how much time you should take off work. This should then be discussed with your manager and/or HR department and they should do all they can to help you get through the tough period. Sometimes a good rest at home for a few weeks is what you need to recharge and start to gain strength and confidence, i actually ended up taking 3 months off but that was what i needed. I hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon.

Should i take time off work due to depression?

Also there are many changes in the work place taking place soon and me not being there might raise questionsShould i take time off work due to depression?
you'll get more depressed if you don't have money! don't take time off..

/sam the slow even in the dungeon i glow....Should i take time off work due to depression?
going to see a counselor is a good start, however i don't think your going to find your answer on yahoo answers. If your unhappy in your job maybe you should look for something different something that you enjoy or motivates you.
You need a definitive diagnosis and the proper drug treatment if necessary. The counselor is a good idea too. Keep up with that and best wishes in your life...
    no
go too work but................. here are some tips

    be true to yourself

Look to the present, drop the future worry and the past regret

    Focus on positives not negatives

Give yourself permission to move forward

Work on your self confidence and self esteem.

Make a list of everything that you are thankful for now in your life

    feel better soon!
Keep struggling. When my meds work I see that the work has piled up and I am matter-of-fact about it. When they don't I feel shame and guilt, and fear of being caught and shown to be incompetent. Same situation, different reactions.

My work is adversarial and sometimes I can't pick up the phone to ask a simple question. Keep struggling.

Do people really have any right to say they're unhappy with their jobs???

If you're like most people, odds are you have several friends who constantly harp about how much they hate their jobs, their boss, their co-workers, etc., Maybe you even do this yourself.

The fact is that the average adult spends 1/3 of his/her lifetime at work. People would never take a job they didn't like, knowing they have to spend so much of their lifetime at that job. We all have choices.

We spend more time at our jobs than with our own families. We spend more time in our workplace than in our own home. So obviously then, people subconsiously choose the career that's most rewarding to them.

I mean sure, everybody has the right to dislike their co-worker(s) or manager. We have no control over who we work with, or who we work under. But we DO have control over what career path we choose to follow, and a person doesn't really have much right to say they dislike their job. Not only that, there are many people who don't even *have* a job, who wish they did.Do people really have any right to say they're unhappy with their jobs???
You are correct to an extent, but I think you're overstating an individual's free choice in the matter. There are plenty of external factors that could lead one to hate their job other than bad coworkers.

For example - say the job market is terrible (like now) and nobody wants to hire people to fill the position you're interested in. You've gotta pay rent, bills, groceries, etc. so you're forced to take something you're not interested in.

Another example - You want to be a doctor, but you're from a poor family, and although you got decent grades, there are hundreds of kids in the country who got similar grades and can afford tuition. You can't afford med school so you can't become a doctor.

Another example - You're working a satisfying job as a social worker or in a non-profit but the pay isn't that great. Then one of your kids is diagnosed with cancer, and the medical bills are astronomical. You're forced to leave the job you love for a soul-crushing office job in a major corporation because you collect a higher salary.

Another example - there's a guy named Pete who wants to be a professional basketball player, but he's a 5'5'; slow, fat, white guy who gets winded running the courts and can't shoot to save his life. If he works hard can he fulfill his NBA dreams? Probably not.

Of course there are plenty of people who whine about their jobs for no good reason, but I think your idea is unrealistic and lacks nuanceDo people really have any right to say they're unhappy with their jobs???
The very fact that you hear many people who complain about their jobs and what they do.Not only tells you they hate what they do,but tells you that they are not doing what they wanted to do.Not everybody has the luxury to choose their career. Many factors contribute to this, such as necessity, parental influence, and compromise. Many people end up doing a job they dislike and are forced to continue it because as you said,';there are many people who don't even have a job,who wish they did';. A person who has a job they don't like,is really doing a disservice to society because they lack in doing the job they loath. When someone who loves that job, would do it so much better. What a great thought,to love what you do everyday so much. That is doesn't even seem like work.

Maybe if everyone caught on to this theory,we wouldn't have mean cops who hate drivers,or mean and nasty public service workers who deal with people everyday. To the drive thru guy,who gets paid peanuts to stand in that one position all day and hear you grip about what you want to stuff yourself with today.
I think people have a right to say this.

It is easy to say people have a choice, but for many responsible adults, life is just not this simple. Lots of people are in jobs that they did not freely ';choose'; but they took because it was the only one offered to them, and they needed money to keep a roof over their kids' heads.

';There are many people who don't even have a job, who wish they did.'; - Well, why don't they stop moaning and get one then? You seem to think that any adult has the choice of any job, so these people (by your logic) clearly choose to be unemployed.

I personally suspect there are quite a few of these unemployed people who do share your opinion, and decide that it is easier to stay at home and live on benefits than even consider taking a job that they don't like.

I have more respect for the people who will do a job, any job, to support themselves and their families, even if they complain about it.

And on one final note - there are some people who say this that don't mean it. At some point in every career, no matter how much you love it, there will be stress. Complaining is a way of letting off steam and while it might not seem productive, can actually be very good for your health.
We have complete control over what career we want with our lives. People that say they ';can't'; do anything about their situation, lack the confidence and willpower to believe that they can. Doesn't matter about their economic situation or a past that ';set them back';. It's about the willingness to sacrifice lots of free time and get your azz moving to a better direction.

Am I bitter about people saying women earn more ?

I just cannot see how they do when you compare people that are similar.

If you add up all of the earnings men earn more but that includes the older men who benefited from sexism.

Also you compare a plumber working 60 hours a week to a receptionist working 20 and say that men earn more.

Considering the education required to be a plumber and the time spent working to become qualified and the hours worked. Say the plumber takes home 1200 and the receptionist 400.

They would say men earn more than women. But here, women are earning more than men.

She needed - no education. only works 20 hours a week. and does almost no work.

He needed - 5 year apprenticeship (where I come from) 60 hours a week and hard labor with education required to be a plumber (TAFE).

If anything we should be reporting that the plumber is underpaid.

    For example.

When I was a student for the longest time I couldn't get a job. When I did it was in retail and the pay was low. (I lived off government grants).

My flat mate as sexy young female got a job as a bartender. She could walk in anywhere and get a job, because she is a good looking woman.

She earned usually 26 an hour plus anything from extra TIPs.

    I was earning nothing.

Her earnings would be compared to that of fulltime working people, when in reality they should have been compared to me. As we were in a similar situation. Both students.

Yet she will be compared to a plumber. Her TIP income not recorded and they'll use that to say women earn less.

Then when I get into the work force. They see a big strong man with a degree and they want to put me into a project management role.

There is a little bit of sexism - maybe they'd be more likely to put me into management because of the perception of tall men. MAYBE.

But isn't it time that there was a little bit of sexism that BENEFITED young men.

I mean - if you are a young man from a poor family this world is a lot harder on you than it is on a young woman from a poor family.Am I bitter about people saying women earn more ?
You are not comparing apples to apples. Women typically earn less than men when you compare the two working for the same positions. Young men have benefited for years in a number of different categories and women and minorities are now playing catch up.Am I bitter about people saying women earn more ?
i believe there is a good deal of insight in what you are saying.
nothing justifies sexism you are being selfish.
    This isn't tricky:

Your gf was earning a lot of money because she was WORKING.

You were earning nothing because... *gasp* you WERE'NT WORKING.

I'm not going ask why you couldn't find a job (the reason doesn't really matter) but that's probably the reason right there why you were living off of government grants.

Secondly, you compare a plumber and a receptionist. Did you pass seventh grade science? That isn't a fair expiriement if more than the variable you are testing is different.

You can't compare two different jobs! So... a woman working at the SAME exact job as a man will be paid as much as 15 percent on average less.

And THAT don't exactly fly with us, feminists.

    Thank you for asking this.
nice try! You try waiting tables for minimum wage or washing dirty old butts for only $2 more than minimum wage and see how unfair it really is. I raised my kids waiting tables and working in nursing homes while my ex got away with paying $250 a month while earnng $2500 a week, after I put him through college to become a sheet metal worker.

This Question is for People Who Don't Ever Tip and/or Treat Their Waiter/Waitress/Server Like...?

... They are absolutely nothing or even worse. My question is why? Why do you do that, you honestly cant believe that we make enough for ';the job we do';. After taxes is taken out servers make .69 cents an hour! and I am serious. You have no idea who many times I have wanted to scream at a person ';SERVERS ARE PEOPLE TO!!!!'; its like y'all just conveniently forget that fact. We aren't dogs, we have bills, and families, and feelings to so what do you think gives you the right to act that way?

I ask this cuz i am always astounded by how people talk about servers, here are some examples:

    ';snickers';

I have never understood why we have to tip waiters. why?? don't they have a monthly salary?? don't they get paid for what they do?? do I get tipped while working at the office or in a school or whatever?? Waiters are all so rude, always expecting people to leave them smth. It's just no fair for the rest of us working people!

    ';Rishabh J';

WHY DO WE TIP THE WAITER?

WHY DO WE TIP THE WAITER WHEN THE COOK MAKES ALL THE GOOD FOOD THE WAITER IS JUST THERE TO GIVE US THE WATER AND FOOD

    ';Infantry Skunk';

.50 cents per drink...or if credit card $3.00...at restuarants i tip 3 bucks whether my meal is 10 bucks or 100 bucks.

service people really don't rate tips..they dont work hard enough..while bartenders and strippers are making $500/day...construction workers and mechanics are working 10 times harder and lucky to make that in a week...you have to think..all they are doing is pooring a drink and walking over to you and placing it down...how does that rate extra cost? but since it is our culture to tip..i usually do lay down $3.

    ';fattyboy';

Is stupido they carries the foods they expects tip

    Other jobs too greedy

if they be's good then ok i dont mind

    ';Here's your answer or questi';

I have a tip policy. Hope it will help you or someone else out. If I go to a restaurant an eat I start out with 10% tip. If my tea glass gets empty I deduct 2 percent each time. If the waiter/waitress passes the food down the table I deduct 5%. If the waiter/waitress doesn't smile or isn't friendly I deduct 3%. If the food isn't good I call for the manager and the waiter/waitress gets 10% they can't help the food. I have left a note for a waitress saying that she owed me money and left.

you know that is a very interesting way to do it, make it like a point system......... thanks i just might have to try that the next time i go to an actual restaurant... lol, it might be cool to see how they measure up..... thanks....

    -----------------------------

Really? see how we ';measure up';? What makes them think they are so much better than us? and how would you stuck up jack a's feel if all the servers in the US went on strike at the same time? The truth is you NEED us!! So quite acting like jerks for no freak'n reason. Explain to me just why servers don't deserve some respect? This Question is for People Who Don't Ever Tip and/or Treat Their Waiter/Waitress/Server Like...?
Your problem shouldn鈥檛 be with your customers but your employer. Why are we customers the bad guys for not tipping when the service we use is usually ridiculously overpriced as it is?

You took that job and that way you agreed to the money you will get. I am an administrator who serves people but in a completely different way and I never get any tips. Is it fair? The problem is with you people that you expect tipping and take it for granted.

How many years have you learned for this fantastic job? See, the money you get for it is exactly as much as you deserve for the qualification required for such a job. People don鈥檛 complain in McDonads for not getting any tips. :D

Strike? Don鈥檛 be ridiculous. You need the job and you wouldn鈥檛 risk a strike in the present economical situation, because another people would take your place in a second. The fact is that you need us.

In my country those people complain and strike the most who have the lowest education. They want the same money as everyone else, but did they learn hard for years to deserve it? Hm?

No they didn鈥檛. Why sholud they get the same money? Out of the kindness of people heart? If this would work nobody would have to go to university, just pass elementary and that it! Gimme gimme gimme!

If you are not satisfied with the money, go learn something that actually pays. Until then, accept that some will tip, some won鈥檛.

But if a lot of people don鈥檛 tip you maybe you should check your attitude, because a phlegm, flat, smileless waitress rarely gets (good) tips. I hate when they make me feel obligated to tip and when I don鈥檛, they won鈥檛 say hello. If I did that in my job, my boss would fire my sorry a s s and with good reason.

So stop complaining and be happy that you even have a job, because you can lose it any time and then you won鈥檛 be thinking about how many tips you didn鈥檛 get, but how to get another job like this that requires minimal training and hundreds of people are waiting in line to get it.

BTW the last time I gave a big tip(about 2 weeks ago) I was trimmed, there were two extra drinks on the bill we didn鈥檛 order. Maybe the waiters wanted to make sure that we will tip? That is a chance that they did this on purpose, there is the chance that someone just miscalculated. Why would I care?

You do exactly the same, you categorize all non-tippers to be @holes. What if that customer saved all that money to take his family out for a nice diner once in a year and there you are, complaining and ruining their day because you think everyone who visit that establishment is made of money.

You should be ashamed of yourself. This Question is for People Who Don't Ever Tip and/or Treat Their Waiter/Waitress/Server Like...?
My policy is 10-15%. More if I am just satisfied beyond compare. Very rarely have I not left a tip at all. There have been times I have given my tip to a server that cared more about my table than my server.

I do agree that servers tend to be treated worse than anybody else in any other field except telemarketing maybe. But, if you can, get out of the industry and find a job that will allow you to make a better living for your family.
And my man says I over tip and too nice. I'm going to print this out and leave it on his pillow.
i tip too much as a rule, 20 -40%. some people are really just plain rude %26amp; others don't understand the principle that this is the biggest chunk of the servers pay. you sound very disgruntled, perhaps you work at a place where the clientell is below board %26amp; you need to go elsewhere. even then, tho, there are popel who always want something for nothing %26amp; cheating you is as close as they can get. i feel for you cuz those are always the loudest complainers too, just looking for a slip-up so they can jip you out of a tip. and then no one ever tips on the full amount during a 2 for 1. sorry, i'm doing more complaining than helping. i waitressed to put myself thru college so i way understand.
i was a waitress when i was really young and i made most of my money off of tips,i made $4.30/hr and made up to $150.00 tip a day well thats also because my brother is the owner and i worked everday all damn day. if they dont tip then its fine, its not included in my pay so that means its not necessary for them to just a moral thing, i tip whatever i have .

i wnt to the restaraunt with my cousin 1 time, and i bought alot of food about $100.00 worth of takeout, hell i love jamaican food and was eating with my eyes. i gave the woman $5.00 tip and my cousin said wow is that all your gonna give her? i found that surprising considering shes always talking about how broke she was, was that not enough? at my brothers restaraunt that how much someone would have given me
yes, I know where you are coming from and am with you 100%.

have worked in the casino/ hotel/restaurant area along side the wait staff and servers...the stupid comment and attitudes of people is amazing...

I was in gaming. keno runner that walked through the restaurant sold the gaming tickets and ran the game .$6 plus tips,

the wait staff, servers, and hostess that I worked along side had a much harder job and the same pay scale...

with out the tips that figures out to below minimum wage...those tips are the rent and groceries because the pay rate does not cover.

I had people ask me if we had a union...hahaha...it is a right to work state..AZ/NV...

that we get paid to work, why should the customer have to tip? this idea was mainly european/asian....

or the people who would leave a handful of dimes and pennies...

since I paid out on winning keno tickets the winners would tip out of the proceeds...had one lady that sat through 15 keno games and I had the info that there was a very big winner... this big winner came up after the last game was called and demanded her winnings....

was 2 or 3 thousand dollars!!

not a thank you, not a smile, not even a $1 tip!! out of a couple thousand winning!!

the norm for keno was ,for example they would win $50 and would tip $5...

it is common decency and common curtesy toward all service persons...
Being a former waitress, I think that all of those people (actually ALL people) should be required to work as a waiter/waitress for a month. That way they can see firsthand what it is like to work for less than minimum wage, work your butt off, deal with rude customers, not get tipped appropriately, and then at the end of it all, try to pay bills with what you earned.

And to the people who say ';just find a new job';, it's not always that easy, especially in small towns. Or in this economy. Don't you think if we could find a better job, we would leave? Or perhaps we are working though college, and can't work a 'better' 9-5 job yet.

I agree that waitstaff deserve respect too. And for the people who don't show respect to their waitstaff (unless the waitstaff is completely rude), it really shows your true character when you demean/belittle the waitstaff. If you do treat them that way, I suggest taking a good long look at yourself and ask if that is truly the person you want to be. Good hearted/nice/friendly/honest people treat everyone with respect, no matter who they are.

    Just food for thought.

How do people work in ';office'; environments like this?

Recently I was asked to work with a printing company that is a contractor to another very large and well-known company (Morgan Stanley). They are new to the account, so they basically just because their client literally about a month ago. There were two former workers, one of which I'd be replacing, which worked through a competitor printing company. Long story short, when the bidding took place, the company trying to hire me won. They offered the existing employees (who had been there for years of tenure with the other company) to join their company and continue on, but they'd have started over their tenure again and they didn't want to do that. So, they took off with the other company apparently about a month ago.

They're trying to replace those two workers, and I am one of the ones they have all but officially ';hired'; (I have beginning employee paperwork that says ';as an employee of _________, I...'; but I'm sort of in a probational status for a while after I am officially hired.

While waiting for the interview, some big-title lady in the office next door (vice president or something) asked me to come talk to her until the manager I was waiting on came back. She asked me all sorts of personal questions about hobbies, etc. and said, ';I'm just being nosey.'; We talked, I felt that I was very open...but she apparently told the manager that I was waiting on (later on) that I seemed ';a little shy.'; She also stated that they have a LOT of demands of the position.

Pays about $12 bucks an hour. They emphasize butt-kissing greetings, basically. We would be responsible for the upkeep of all 4 breakrooms (different floors of the building), delivering about 300+ pieces of mail to offices per day, and general print, binding, etc. for the big-name people's presentations or whatever they need printed. Of course, that has to be 100% error free. No smudges, the exact colors requested, etc.

Basically, they're trying to ';win over'; the support as the new company, and they are on a bit of a probational status themselves. The company loved the other people. Investors upstairs, I've been told, have to have a minimum of $10 million to open whatever investment account with the company. So they do a LOT of butt-kissing to these people. It seems like ';super nice'; is not even the word to describe how they want me to be, and I feel that I've been really nice, greeting people, etc. and I'm not sure what's wrong with them that they think I'm ';shy.'; I work at an airport...I deal with thousands of people per day in Customer Service. Shy I am not.

Also, my site manager doesn't know how to get me fingerprinted. He basically wanted me to ';check around'; at local police stations, etc. and find a place to get fingerprinted. But yet also seeming to indicate they'd pay for it. The paper he gave me lists a local police station, but they require a cashier's check or money order and won't take cash. In the interview, he seemed reluctant with that place he gave me because they don't take cash.

I've also been ';hired'; via paperwork by the company about a year ago. Took a month to get ';hired';...then on the day I was to start, they cut my position before I even started training, due to ';economic issues.'; The recruiter for the company seems to have backed it up.

The building is a richie-richie too-good-for-everything kind of places. Tile floors, golden stuff, etc. How do people feel ';okay'; with this? How do people work in ';office'; environments like this?
She said your shy, you're probably not but maybe they need someone more talk-active and more outspoken. Some companies need people like this. I'm not like that so I try to at apply at jobs where it's not a priority to be outspoken. Watch your back, they might let you go for someone more outspoken, it happened to me. Although, many jobs want very outspoken, talk-active, butt kissing people. Apply at a less demanding job, definitely not sales.

http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind鈥?/a>How do people work in ';office'; environments like this?
Sounds like a typical contracting situation to me.

The more time you spend in the corporate world, the more you'll come to wonder how anything EVER gets done.

    Just do the best job you can, and ignore as much of the stupidity as possible. Taking it too seriously will make you crazy. The best attitude you can cultivate is ';OK, whatever.';

Lets cut welfare? Don't you think people living off the system it's time to cut their life line? ?

and people like contractors won't have work is our government that dence they don't understand it's already been that way for a long time now. How are people going to fix up the homes when they are losing them?

How are people going to take out a loan when they lost their job? Or you got one spouse working trying to make ends meet for the whole family?

Here is my solution welfare is sucking us up blind don't you all think it's time we cut these people living off the system off?

I know a bunch of them in my city and they wouldn't work to save their life. Welfare cost us tax payers to much money and they just keep having babies. Not all but many of them.

Welfare was designed for working people to get on during hard times now the working people can't get on it if we have to much in assets and so on. But yet you can sit with no job year after year and collect of the system.

We need welfare reform and we need it soon? What do you think?Lets cut welfare? Don't you think people living off the system it's time to cut their life line? ?
Disagree. There are people out there on welfare who work 2 jobs sometimes 7 days a week and still cannot make ends meet. Prices are going up and salaries are staying the same. I think welfare needs to be around BUT it definitely needs to be changed. For example there are definitely people on it who are lazy and unmotivated. There should be something in place to follow up on these people to see what kind of changes are going on, if they are even working or pursuing a job, etc. So many things should take place to eliminate the lazy people. BUT it should not be cut out completely cause there are people out there really struggling and trying to make ends meet. Lets cut welfare? Don't you think people living off the system it's time to cut their life line? ?
welfare is only about 0.6% of our taxes, so I doubt it is hurting us that much. In fact all programs to help the poor, all together only are 5% of the taxes.

I think you need to look elsewhere for what is causing the problem.

There has been lots of reform of the system already, but it does need more for those that are on it for forever.
You'd probably take them all out and shoot them right.
Ok then - and if you default on your mortgage you GO AND LIVE ON THE STREET - and don't expect the rest of us to bail you out for your fecklessness !!
I agree with you. No one should be allowed to just sit on their fat *** all day long and keep popping out babies that i have to pay for. People take advantage of the system and it sucks for people like me who actually work hard. If youre going to be on welfare i think you should get 90 days tops. It doesnt take 90 days to find a job. If it does take you 3 whole months to find a job, you either arent looking hard enough or you think you're better than you really are and need to lower your standards.
Yes, the system can be abused and there should be reform to prevent that from happening.

However, it's an utter myth to think that everyone on welfare is just looking for a free ride. Some people just haven't had the lucky breaks that I've had, or that lots of other people have had.

Cutting welfare spending is not the solution. The solution is to find ways to spend that money wisely.
You do realize social security that the elderly receive is welfare too.
If you cut off their lifeline then they will take the next path of least resistance to survive: crime. You can't stay on Welfare forever either, Clinton signed into law Welfare reforms that remove people off the system that don't make an effort to provide for themselves.

The Clinton era welfare reforms were good, don't touch them. They were the product of bipartisanship, Republicans wrote the law that Clinton asked for and he signed it. If you really want to know how far it's come, compare TANF (the new system) to AFDC (the old system).
maybe not eliminate but change the rules where if you are working paying taxes and still can not get by you can get alittle help, All this welfare system in the United States does is reward people for having children they can not feed, if your sitting on your but kicking out babies , no desire for education or a job ,the kids can go into foster systems and the parents can get with the program or starve to death. That way if you have a job and your using it , your at least paying back into it with taxes.
YES let's eliminate ALL welfare ESPECIALLY corporate welfare - - - let's prevent NEW corporate welfare too, starting with this bailout bill.

I agree but I don't think it should be eliminated completely. Yes, there are many people who are lazy and collect welfare so they don't have to work but there also are people who are working and still struggling to make ends meet.
Yeah lets cut welfare for everyone that means none for the little people and no bail out.....

    Equality can be a B****

What the government pays out in welfare is not much compared to most things in our budget....

and while the idiots who make a life out of it (living off of the system) piss me off the ones who have more money than any of us will be getting that money too, that pisses me off even more...
Our polliticians are welfare and so are the CEos they support on our dime 40% of govt is private contracts which cost 40%more then govt employee's you might say they are working the sytem dont shoot the wrong person
