I graduated from school last yr and i have been looking for work since then. My major was psychology and the best jobs for my field is a state job non profit organizations. In my state the governor declared a hiring freeze on all state jobs so that's like 90% of my options right there.
Ive been looking high and low with no success. Ive signed up with temp agencies all over town. WHen i call they say they have no jobs available. Ive looked in fast food and the mall NOpe not hiring. I tried to get a job with victoria secrets but they wanted someone with more managerial experience.
Yet when you tell people how hard it is they brush you off. These are usually people with jobs who got them BEFORE this horrid recession. Ive been told i think im too good to work in fast food that just isnt the case. Where i live the fast food places arent hiring. I saw oprah yesterday and people are living in tent cities. I saw on the news about people living in office buildings. So why is it that so many people see this and still act like people who dont have jobs are lazy? Why are people so insensitive of out of work people?
Just keep trying. Right now it's really difficult to find a job because so few places are hiring. I've been job searching since early May and right now what I'm doing is looking in the phone book and making a list of all the businesses that I would like to work for, contacting them to ask if they might have any openings and submitting resumes. I know its hard but remain patient and optimistic and an opportunity will come your way real soon. Best wishes! Why are people so insensitive of out of work people?
Because its human nature to be judgemental and condescending. If you can look in the mirror and say to yourself you are trying your best to find work fair play to you but times are tough you just need to stick at it and something will turn up don't let other peoples arrogance get you down.
Because most people really can't empathize. They have to be in the situation to actually know what it's like.
When you can't get a job you're lazy or not interested, if they're ever in that situation it will be like the sky is falling.
Temp agencies have told me they have nothing. For fast food places or lower paying jobs you might want to take out your college degree from your resume or application. I noticed a slight difference after I did that.
Good Luck.
