I am the Vice President of my University hall, and others most importantly the president doesn't like me nor do they think I'm competent. I feel more stressed out than I do when working with people I get along with because I am afraid they are going to be rude or treat me condescendingly if something goes wrong! It isn't fair they can screw up and no one will notice but if I make a mistake they will make a scene about it! How do I remedy this situation. The work isn't bad but the stress is!!!How to work with people who don't like you nor think you are competent?
Unfortunately, not a lot of people know how to handle interpersonal relationships. All I can say is stand up for what you believe in, show some backbone for yourself and not them. Not everyone's going to like everyone. :\ Maybe address the issue with someone higher up.How to work with people who don't like you nor think you are competent?
Just prove that you are competent. You do your job, you do it well, and you know it. You're confident that you can do your job as well as or better than anyone else, and you're not ashamed of it.
And yes, it does sound like jealousy. People tend to put up defenses when they think they're being challenged.
