Why do people work themselves so hard and not enjoy life for what it's worth?

People get so caught up with work and school and forget how short life really is and they never take the time to relax and enjoy it for what it's worth. Also, so many people are so close minded that they forget to enjoy life. People are constantly criticizing others or worry about what others think of them and forget that we are all the same. It seems like no one has a personality anymore and just act like fools to please others when they are miserable inside. Too many people are afraid to live life likes its supposed to be lived. Why do people work themselves so hard and not enjoy life for what it's worth?
You have made a very worthwhile observation. It is unfortunate that many of us in seeking fame and fortune or other aspirations neglect to just stop once in awhile and enjoy the beauty of nature and friendships. They seem to be on a treadmill of insecurity and the clock ticks away while they usually don't enjoy life. Why do people work themselves so hard and not enjoy life for what it's worth?
It's called conformity. People tend to forget that while we need to conform to basic laws in our society, it is not necessary to think and be like everyone else. In fact, it's better not to think and be like everyone else.
good point...sometimes when there's a lot on people's plates they forget to look at the larger picture of life (myself included)

people like yourself are necessary to provide others with the reminder that theres more to life
