Do you work in the same field as most people from Mexico work?

I work in manufacturing and for the last 6 years I have never been at a workplace that had less than 50% Mexican working there. It's just, kind of lonely is all, being one of the only white guys at a job site. Most people don't speak much English and it's hard to get people to help me because I don't hang out with them much after work. I suppose if the rolls were reversed it would considered racism only having like a couple Mexican working there but whatever, thats typical of the USA, blame it on the white population!

I just wonder what the diversity is like where other people work.



And, to clarify for all the people who think they know everything, these guys are from Mexico, how do I know? I ask them. They are not Americans, well, a couple of them are. But most are no, most are here on work permits, resident aliens, etc. or here illegally I suppose.Do you work in the same field as most people from Mexico work?
The health-care field is very diverse, Mexicans, Filipinos, Blacks, we have everything. My boyfriend speaks both English and Spanish, his job is over 50% Spanish speakers. They all get along quite well, he attends functions attended by only English speakers, he invites English only speakers to Spanish speaking functions and they do not attend. Perhaps you could make your self more approachable, people are still people, the language barrier can and will be overcome if that is what you desire.Do you work in the same field as most people from Mexico work?
You are totally right, the effort has to come from them as well, you seem like a really nice person and I am sure they will see that and things will be easier for you.

Here we go again. For those that say that the Immigration issue is not about race have to only look at questions like these.
I know what you mean,I was the only Mexican in an Anglo workplace.
I'm Hispanic and in college I was a teacher assistant for one course, the professor was Hispanic too, the other assistant for that class was black, some others I worked with in that area are white, Asians, some studying or working abroad here from different countries.



But i feel you might be complaining that there aren't enough white people in your job, i can't help you there, and asking this question here won't help you either.
Yes! ,and they are ruining the construction trades. When a good journeyman makes $20+ per hour and the company can hire illegals for $10-14 per hour,who do you think they will keep?It's all out greed!The heck with the customer ,stucco and paint will cover shoddy work,at least till you move to the next job.There is no future for young people coming into the trades if they take pride in their work or hope to support a family.GREED rules!
