I'm composing an ethnography about the subculture of gyms and exercise facilities. I would like to get some information about why people go to the gym as opposed to being active out of doors or in your own home. How often do you use your gym membership? Do you enjoy going to the gym? Does it make you happy with your outward appearance? If your a personal trainer, please elaborate on why you chose that specific profession, do you enjoy it, etc..?In your opinion; why do people work out at the gym vs. being active outside? ?
I prefer to go to the gym for workouts. Though I still do a lot of outside activities (tennis, working in the yard...though I hate it, etc.) I prefer the gym because it is temperature controlled and there are no bugs. I live in an area of the country that has weather extremes, heat, cold, rain, and bugs galore, gnats, flies, spiders. I know I don't have to deal with all of that at the gym. I also feel like I will stay committed to what I'm doing when I have a regular schedule of doing my workouts instead of relying on just going outside. It's a psychological thing for me.In your opinion; why do people work out at the gym vs. being active outside? ?
That confuses me too now everyone thinks of doing things as exercise why can't they just ride their bike for fun or run up to the store w/o thinking of it as exercise and just thinking of it as living?
Its actually really horrible what is happening.
Why is being active so voodoo you see kids running around outside all the time.
hello there...most people go to gym's to socialize and by more people being around you it inspires you to work out more also...the thing is going to the gym is a part of life for most people such as my self and for proffesional bodybuilders and those sirious about building size and strength...alot of people enjoy it such as my self i love to lift iron there is no better feeling but then alot of people just go to the gym out of guilt to try lose weight or to get in shape...my view is that if a person does not enjoy the gym they should not go because if you don't enjoy it then you don't have no motavation....a person does not have to go to the gym to get in shape they could do it right in there home but some choose the gym instead...now the real fact about the gym life is once you start you cannot stop or you will lose all that you have through years of working out....but most of all you have to love it to enjoy it....
I work out in my house (treadmill, bike, etc.) because I have nosy neighbors. They're always watching and coming over to make small talk, which is fun sometimes but not ALL the time. I just don't want to have to slow down to talk to them while I'm working out or feel like they're watching me.
Because they hate to walk.Ever notice how close they park to the entrance?
