there's lots of people at my work. the rejects get moved to 2nd shift. im a trainer and as the best trainer, i got moved to 2nd shift to try and help them.
im about to f-ing kill myself.
how do you personally deal with these horrible people at your work?
people who dont listen?
people who dont bathe?
people who think they are saying something fun/unique/witty and its actually really off the wall and stupid?
people who breathe down your neck?
i could go on...How do YOU deal with people you hate at work?
Best medicine were to ignore such people .How do YOU deal with people you hate at work?
Unless you can find another job, I guess you have to go into your own zone and deal with them. Good Luck!
Quit
I ignore them. It seems a lot less stressful than hating them.
i avoid them as much as possible
OHH boy.... this is a problem everyday americans deal with. Sometimes you need to ignoreee.
other times you tell them hey buddy go take a shower buy some deoderant......%26amp; to the weirdos tell them to shut the **** up!
Personally I'd look for a job someplace else or start my own business. I did that latter many years ago and if I end up with people like you describe I fire them.
Confront them!
You need to deal with each person at a time. Pull each person to the side and talk to them one on one. In a very respectful, friendly manner tell them what you think they should do to be better at work.
You might also mention what bothers you from each person individually and tell them to avoid it when possible.
Think about how much your getting paid, and what your going to do with the money. It will keep you from wanting to quit, and it might be worth it putting up with all of these horrible people.
You seem a bit high-strung; look for a new job because this is going to stress you out!
I would try speaking with your supervisor, making a list of the people who fit the above descriptions. Your supervisor should be dealing with these people if you do not have the authority to do so yourself.
Smile a lot and be extra special nice to them.
If you have a number of them you may have to transfer or find another job.
One important thing to remember is never air dirty laundry at work and think twice outside of work. That means don't grip about it just to feel better. It does nothing to improve things and you always end up looking worse for it no matter how justified things are.
There are appropriate times to voice problems to superiors. You can be honest yet don't vent or spice it up with language or flippant remarks. Just explain the problem and how it effects you. Give them time to resolve it. Leave later on if you must.
Tell them. Tell them about work. You are the one in charge of them. Let them know when they are doing something they shouldn't be doing. Don't bathe, listen, etc, remind them about policy and that you can easily report back to the boss and get them in the unemployment line. I have empathy for you- I absolutely hate these kinds of enviroments where you are forced to work with an unproductive sloth. If anything listed above doesn't work, you can either tell the boss you did all the work or better yet put your rejects in charge of something so if they screw it up or not do it, you are blameless.
Well people you work with is kinda like family: you don't get to choose them. Try to stay calm and not get too worked up. If they honestly are doing the things you say they are then just tell them straight what they're doing is annoying you (in a nice way though). ';Excuse me but would you mind moving back a bit...you're making me feel uncomfortable'; Or say like if they don't listen to you then don't listen to them. But yeah 2 wrongs don't make a right so just tell them they're being rude by not listening. And whenever they say something stupid just ignore them. And you can always go to your boss if it gets too out of hand.
You give them three warnings. if they continue to screw up you report them and list the incidents and dates. Anyone who breathes down your neck needs to back off or you go to mgmt. Do not take one ounce of crap or you will drown under it, set your parameters and do not let anyone cross them.
Just do what you were put there to do. It's their own fault if they don't listen you're boss will see eventually. And as for hygiene well unless you start gagging there's not much you can do.
It is amazing how many of my past jobs, you just described. Personnel wise. There seems to be at least one if not half a dozen at each job. You are the best trainer. So, do your best to train them! Unfortunately, that means addressing some issues that are not included in the job description. Try a group announcement first. Bathing and use of deodorant, is an expected action from each employee. And if anyone is having trouble with being able to purchase personal care items, please come and see you, you can help get those items for them. Remember, you do not have to see them outside of work. You get to go to your own house! Try to leave it at work.
and you probably do go on ....and on ....and on.
why not just just accept people as they are?
work is work. you arent there because you want to be. you are there to do a job. so just get on with it.
you may think you smell fine but if you are a meat eater then vegetarians are probaly offended by you. so get off your high horse.
You are between a rock and a hard place. Because you are competent, you were put into the position of working with a group others couldn't train. Go back to the person who made the assignment and ask exactly what they intend to happen. Do they want you to set up mini-courses on hygiene, personal space, certain skills or do they want you to continue to work one-on-one or whatever it is you are doing? Explain that you want to bring these people up to speed but it isn't working. You need more resources. Or a clearer idea of what they want out of these people.
Be careful, however. Sometimes people are put into these situations with the intention of them not doing well so the supervisor has someone to blame or because they want to ease you out of the company.
Teachers are put into this situation all the time. Do well with discipline (and instruction) and get the most difficult classes to teach. A good teacher tries to face each day as a new beginning and never let the student know you go home and tear your hair out. Improvement can be very slow and you just have to hang on. I've worked with people I've hated and they had no idea. You do your job as well as possible and don't show it.
Hope this helps in some way. You are not alone.
