mnay thanks working peopleHow do I sepearte work form my personal life?
- Don't take any work home when you leave the office. Your home is your 'personal' space.
- When at home, if your friends ask you ';How was work today';. Just say ';Same as usual'; and change the topic.
- Keep a busy social life. Makes it easy to forget about work and it keeps you refreshed and more positive.
- If something bad happens to you at work, don't take it personally or you'll end up complaining about it to your friends/family outside work and if you do it too much, they'll start avoiding you
- Remember that you work to live, not live to work. How do I sepearte work form my personal life?
Take off your work clothes as soon as you come home and listen too relaxing music.
Find a new hobby to distract you x
socialise. / spend quite time with family/friends.
watch a movie, exercise lightly - join a regular regime, have a shower, listen to music, make a really nice dinner.
find a hobby/ interest.
read a book.
By constructing a personal work/personal life style time table.
I lived in the place I worked for 10years and that was the hardest time to ever to seperate work from my normal life.
try doing what we did and enforcing a ''no shop talk'' rule in your house this means as soon as you get home you dont think or talk about work. If someone starts talking about work remind them that ''you dont talk shop in here'' and they cant argue
Take a nice hot shower and ';wash away'; your work life.
If you're a bubble bath type even better. Put on some of your favorite music, or put on one of your favorite movies.
I personally find a great distraction in writing and reading as well.
But the shower seems to do the trick in helping you to make a break of one part of your life, so you can then begin the evening hours of your personal life. Hubby would come home and have a glass of wine and we'd both shower up and then go fix dinner together; he said it was the highlight of his day and helped immensely to break the stress and differentiate his day.
Give it a try................Good Luck.
Hi there
As a nurse I find that can be very difficult. IF I have had a stressful day then I find talking about it helps or maybe relaxing in a hot bath and just having some me time.
I have had two issues that have made that difficult:
One was when a colleague was being very difficult to work with
and
Another was when I got too involved with a young cancer patient that died. (by too involved I mean I cared too much and it ripped me apart to see him and his family suffering)
Now with experience I seem more able to deal with these issues.
