Lets face it, every place you work no matter if its McDonalds or Chase Financial in a skyscraper, theres always crap to deal with. Some places are better than others. Seems like people where I work people dont realize how bad they could have it. Its definitely not the perfect place to work, but Ive seen much worse. Everybody lately is really in a slump, and they are negative and I try to stay positive. I figure if you dont like it that much just find another job, and if we have to be there for 8 hours a day we might as well make the best of it and try to have fun.
Any ideas for morale boosting around my workplace? How can you boost morale at work?
The best way is to talk to the people in the workplace. Ask them what they would like to make the workplace better.
Many managers are surprised at how simple the answers are to implement. Things like water coolers, a ';time out'; place to have meetings or have lunch, or even things like ';nicer'; pens to use can really boost morale.
Sometimes, it's things that seem very small which can cause the biggest morale boosts.
Where I work, every couple of months, the owners pay for us to have a pizza lunch, which is a real fun event, and something that does boost morale. How can you boost morale at work?
giv everybody a million dollars. : )
Keep in mind that while negativity is catching...so is optimism. I think if you set a good example that you take pride in what you do and have hope that occasionally things will get better, your coworkers will pick it up from you. Especially if you can all share terror stories about places where you used to work. That is always a nice reminder that the grass isn't always greener.
