Why cant people get to know other people?

We all live in ';communities'; with thousands of other people. And yet to meet anyone we have to do this whole confusing pointless charade of only those we are close (locationally speaking) to. We can push for a new friend with small talk at work, or stores. But how often does this work? People are so closed to meeting new people that it seems like the door closes shut after age 5. Naturally we are very social beings, younger aged humans can make a friend by just seeing another of their same age. Its not clear enough we should be able to do that now. Go to a restaurant alone and find someone else thats there and eat with them. Or see someone in their car and be like, ';where you going? Can I come'; Whats made humans so damn alone? This world is such crap.Why cant people get to know other people?

I can understand how you feel. I think you should just keep doing your best, be friendly, even if people don't seem to respond in kind. It may take some time but you will meet others like yourself. Like attracts like.
